Tracy-Milroy-Balaton jumped on New York Mills early, scoring four times in the top of the first inning en route to an 8-0 victory in Thursday’s first Class 1A state baseball tournament quarterfinal game at the Mini Met in Jordan.
Panthers’ pitcher Zach Campbell drove in the fourth run of the first inning then made the most of the cushion. He held New York Mills to no runs on five hits and posted six strikeouts.
T-M-B’s Jeremy Hoflock contributed to the Panthers’ scoring in the first, third and fourth innings. He finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Campbell got two strong plays from his defense. Catcher Shane Erickson picked off Tyler Patron of New York Mills at first base. And third baseman Taylor Hoffbeck snared a line drive for an out then doubled off Shane Novak at first base to end the fifth inning.
