Avery Stevens pitched a no-hitter and had a two-run single to lead Sleepy Eye to a 6-0 victory over Hinckley-Finlayson in the Class 1A quarterfinals on Thursday.
Stevens, a senior, improved to 9-1 on the season. He walked one and struck out 15.
Sleepy Eye (17-5), the No. 2 seed, scored all of its runs in the fourth inning when they sent 10 hitters to plate. Stevens' hit gave Sleepy Eye a 2-0 lead. Nathan Walter's two-run double completed the scoring.
The loss ended an 11-game winning streak for Hinckley-Finlayson (14-5).
