1A: Trailing by six in the sixth, defending champ Parkers Prairie rallies to defeat Wabasso

The fifth-seeded Panthers scored eight times in the inning, breaking a 6-6 tie on a steal of home, en route to an 8-6 victory.

Parkers Prairie, the defending Class 1A state champion rallied from a six-run deficit for an 8-6 victory over Wabasso on Thursday in the Class 1A quarterfinals.

The Panthers (19-9), the fifth seed, trailed fourth-seeded Wabasso 6-0 after five innings before scoring eight runs in the top of the sixth. The Panthers sent 10 hitters to the plate in the inning and had six hits.

Trailing 6-4, Matt Ferley drove in two runs with a triple to tie the score. Moments later, Ferley broke the 6-6 tie by stealing home.

Hunter Haggenmiller and Travis Yohnke each had two hits for the Panthers, who were outhit 15-9.

Ferley was the winning pitcher, allowing four earned runs in five innings.

Jacob Plaetz was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Cooper Taylor and Will Carlson each drove in two runs for the Rabbits (14-5).
