• SECTION 3: Burnsville, last year’s state tournament runner-up, moved within one victory of a return trip to the eight-team field with a 6-2 victory over St. Thomas Academy in the winners’ bracket of the Final Four on Saturday morning at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville. The Blaze provided winning pitcher Quinn Johnson with all the run support he needed in the first inning, scoring four times. Johnson allowed only four hits while striking out eight and walking none; he threw only 79 pitches in a complete game. Burnsville will meet rival Eastview in the finals. The Lightning won both of its games in the losers’ bracket, beating Eagan 8-4 and St. Thomas Academy 8-1.
CLASS 2A
• SECTION 4: Jordan Wiggins took matters into his own hands. The junior threw a four-hit shutout and belted a three-run home run in the first inning, leading St. Anthony to a 5-0 victory over Minnehaha Academy in the Final Four.
