With three teams in the top 10, Class 3A, Section 5 looks to be tough

The Pioneers head into the sectional strong, after sweeping their last week of regular-season play.

3   Burnsville
The Blaze scored in double digits in their last two games of the season and then shutout Rosemount to head off Class 3A, Section 3.

4   Eden Prairie
With Minnetonka out of the picture, the Eagles look to be the favorites in Class 3A, Section 2. They started their run with a win over Mankato West.

5   Coon Rapids
Who will prevail in Class 3A, Section 5? The Cardinals would have to outlast Maple Grove to win it, but they’ve started their bid with a first-round victory over Osseo.

6   Stillwater
The Ponies won out their last week of play to start the tournament.
15-5 9
7   Eastview
The Lightning ended the season on a loss, but have turned around their rocky start.
14-6 10
8   Centennial
Watch out Class 3A, Section 5, there is definitely another player in town. The Cougars burst into the playoffs with an 11-run win over Park Center and then upset Totino-Grace. Up Wednesday: Maple Grove.

9   Forest Lake
The Rangers won eight of their final nine heading into the postseason.
15-5 NR
10   Hopkins
The Royals finished the season on a strong note – beating Minnetonka – and took the good vibes right into the first round, tromping Wayzata to move on.
