Senior battles through numerous injuries to remain on the field

Zach Scalzo didn’t abandon hope of playing sports his senior year at Duluth Marshall, even after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee to start the hockey season.

Or after injuring cartilage in the same knee during his first baseball game.

Or after tearing the meniscus in the same knee in his first game back after that.

Despite numerous setbacks, Scalzo was on the mound Friday afternoon against Hibbing at Bulldog Park at Minnesota Duluth. Marshall lost 7-3, but Scalzo’s return is a team highlight.
