Beacons topple No. 1 again

CONCORDIA ACADEMY 9, MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 5: The Beacons struck again, defeating the Class 2A, No. 1 Redhawks to earn their second victory over a top-ranked team this season. Concordia (8-8) took control of the game in the fourth inning, batting around to score five runs against Minnehaha Academy ace Tim Krahn and jump out to a 7-3 lead. Krahn, who suffered his first loss this season and was lifted after the fourth, entered the game with a 0.65 ERA. Seniors Derek Leier (3-for-4, three RBI) and Sam Wirth (2-for-3,
three RBI) led the Beacons offense.

HOLY ANGELS 5, RED WING 4: Sophomore Zach Hartley lined a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving the Stars a victory over the Wingers in the Missota. It was Hartley’s third hit of the day. Pat Kelly was one of four Wingers with two hits. He doubled in the first, and later scored as Red Wing took a quick 2-0 lead.

ZIMMERMAN 8, PRINCETON 2: Thunder pitcher Christian Korlath needed only 67 pitches to complete seven strong innings of work, earning the victory over the Tigers in Mississippi 8 play. Korlath, a senior, also led the offense by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and five RBI.
