Pursuitti K's 13, PC defense not up to snuff

The Tornadoes scored five and Kevin Pursuitti pitched a complete game, holding the Pirate bats at bay with 13 strikeouts to notch a 5-1 victory for Anoka.

The Park Center bats couldn't quite figure out the lefty and the Pirate defense committed four errors on the day, allowing three unearned runs. Jordan Stroh threw the first five innings for the Green-and-Gold before giving way to Jake Velander for the final two innings. While the Pirate pitchers seem to have stepped up in recent games, the defense behind them and the offense in general still need to peak for the playoffs.

Park Center has the weekend off before two days of practice this Monday and Tuesday. The final stretch of conference games include four games in six days with contests against Elk River (away), Centennial (home), Champlin Park (home  - senior/parent day - noon/Saturday), and Osseo (away).

Section 5AAA play-offs will begin on Thursday, May 26th. Pirate fans should plan on making the trip to Wintercrest Park in Coon Rapids for a 'Play In Game' with a start time of either 2pm or 4:30pm.
