Zeman drives Benilde-St. Margaret 7-6 victory

BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 7, EDINA 6: Senior Greg Zeman drove in five runs, including two in the bottom of the sixth inning, to give the Red Knights the lead in their come-from-behind nonconference victory over Edina. Zeman also had a bases-loaded double in Benilde-St. Margaret’s four-run second inning. Edina took a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth on sophomore Mark Handberg’s two-run double. Teammate sophomore Matthew Hopfner had a bases-loaded double in the previous inning for Edina. Junior Scott Quinby retired the only two batters he faced in the sixth inning for his first varsity victory for Benilde-St. Margaret’s, while junior Jimmy Heck worked the seventh to pick up the save.

MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 9, BRECK 8: Senior first baseman Andrew Whitacre hit a grand slam, leading the unbeaten Redhawks
(11-0) past the Mustangs in the Tri-Metro. Breck scored six runs in the seventh to pull within one before the Redhawks closed the door.
