The Pirates went to extra innings for the second time this season. Unfortunately, the result was the same as the first extra innings affair, with the Green-and-Gold on the losing end of a one-run game.
Park Center took an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning as Caleb Selin, Matt Hanson and Jordan Stroh hit consecutive singles to start the game, and the PC Nine added an additional run on a first-and-third steal and error. Three bunts, two walks, two hits and two Bengal errors in the fourth allowed the Pirates to extend the lead to 6-0. But Blaine came back to post four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Bengals would tie the game in the fifth and that score held until the bottom of the 8th.
Jordan Stroh started the game on the mound for the Pirates, but gave way to Jake Schultz in the 7th inning. Schultz would take the hard-luck loss, even though many at the game thought that he might have struck out at least one batter to end the 8th and continue the game. The Bengals hit into two early outs in that inning before securing a walk, delivering a single, and then sending a ball to the deepest part of center field to score the winning run.
Plankers, Schumacher, Wahlberg, Otto, Galkowski, and Schneider each had multiple hits for the Bengals, and Schumacher pitcher the final three innings of the game to secure the victory for Blaine. At the plate for the Pirates, Selin, Hanson, and Jordan Stroh each had two hits, while Connor Green continued to rake for PC, and Austin Ledin struck for the first hit of his short varsity career.
