When Pat Dolan became St. Cloud State head baseball coach in 2007, he looked to the St. Cloud Cathedral baseball team, which was coming off a state championship in 2007.

The Crusaders had two talented seniors in infielder Steve Rindelaub and outfielder Phil Imholte. Those two eventually became part of Dolan’s first recruiting class. Two years later, their former teammate, left-handed pitcher Nick Maiers, came aboard to form a strong trio of former Cathedral stars on the Huskies’ roster.
