Catcher sets the bar as high as possible

Justin Threlkeld

Burnsville senior catcher Justin Threlkeld would like nothing better than to end his career with another trip to Target Field for the Class 3A baseball state championship. Threlkeld also played defensive back on the Blaze football team. Here is a closer look at Threlkeld:

The best movie I've seen in the past year? "Inception" hands down.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are? "I Go Back" by Kenny Chesney; "By the Way" by Young Jeezy; "Free" by Zac Brown Band.

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Dedicated, leader, passionate.

Favorite meal prior to a game? Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chocolate milk.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... scared, for the fact that I might screw up.

What are your goals for the 2010-11 season? Get back to the state championship again for baseball, but actually win it this year. Also, to perform the best I can on the field.

What did you work on in the offseason? Becoming a better baseball player, both offensively and defensively, and becoming physically stronger.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Playing in the state championship last year at Target Field ... unfortunately we lost.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? The length of the baseball season. It is way too short!

What is the best sports advice you ever received? If you ain't first, you're last.
