Eagan shuts out Prior Lake

EAGAN 2, PRIOR LAKE 0: Wildcats coach Rob Walsh opened the season with a relatively inexperienced team. Walsh knew he was going to have to count on his pitching staff, and they didn’t let me down Thursday. Seniors Charlie Conkel and Adam Gibis combined to shut out Prior Lake in a South Suburban matchup. Conkel picked up the win, working the first four innings, while Gibis earned a save, pitching the last three innings. Conkel also had two doubles. Brady Loew belted a home run for the Wildcats and had both RBI.

PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 12, TRINITY 0: In the Lions’ first game in school history, senior Nick Krueger threw a no-hitter while shutting out Trinity in MCAA play. Krueger’s control and some solid defense, most notably by sophomore shortstop Ryan Tapani kept Trinity off the base paths. Sophomore Jacob Braun had a bases-loaded triple to lead the offense.
