Big moves have been made in Classes 3A and 1A after the start of the section playoffs.

Class 4A

The top five for Class 4A in the Associated Press poll is unchanged, with No. 1 Stillwater (16-4), No. 2 Blaine (17-3), No. 3 Minnetonka (16-4), fourth-ranked Wayzata (13-6) and No. 5 St. Michael Albertville (19-1) each holding firm.

Class 3A

While the top three teams in Class 3A stayed put, there was more movement near the bottom half of the top 10, including three teams that were not in the top 10 last week.

Red Wing (13-7) was ranked No. 11 last week, but the Wingers have won seven out of their last eight games, catapulting themselves into the No. 6 spot.

Delano (14-5) was ranked No. 13 last week, but has moved up to No. 8 this week. The Tigers have won 10 games in-a-row, including five straight shutouts in which they’ve outscored opponents 49-0.

Then there’s Northfield (12-8). The Raiders made the biggest jump, going from No. 16 to No. 10, but they don’t have a long win streak like Delano. In fact, the Raiders lost their last regular season game 11-5 to Mankato West last Thursday.

Class 2A

There wasn’t much movement in the past week for Class 2A. The top five remains the same from last week: No. 1 Belle Plain (16-2), No. 2 Minnehaha Academy (18-2), third-ranked Pierz (15-1), No. 4 Sauk Centre (17-3) and No. 5 Maple Lake (18-2).

Class 1A

There were big jumps and even bigger falls in Class 1A this week. A notable rise in the rankings came from Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut (15-3), as it jumped from outside the top 10 (No. 11), up to No. 7.

The largest fall came from Canby (12-1), which fell ten spots. The Lancers finished the regular season on a 10-game win streak, but they lost to MACCRAY (5-10) in the section playoffs 4-2 on Saturday, dropping them from No. 10 last week, down to No. 20.
