Coon Rapids' Shore selected 47th by A's

From one coast to the other.

University of Florida righthander Logan Shore was selected by the Oakland Athletics with the 47th pick in the second round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft Thursday night. The Coon Rapids High School product was the first player from Minnesota selected in the three-day event.

Shore, the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year, is 11-0 on the season with a 2.44 ERA. There were six pitchers from the conference drafted ahead of Shore, a 6-2, 215-pound junior.

Shore has won a school-record 16 consecutive decisions dating to May 14, 2015. He has 80 strikeouts and 15 walks in 92 ⅓ innings.

A control pitcher, Shore throws a two- and four-seam fastball, slider and changeup. His fastball is usually ranges from 90 to 92 miles per hour and will top out at 94.

He was selected in the 29th round by the Twins coming out of high school in 2013 but chose to play collegiately for the Gators instead.

Six selections later, the Tampa Bay Rays picked Nebraska junior center fielder Ryan Boldt of Red Wing. He batted .288 for the Cornhuskers with five home runs and 30 RBI. He also stole 20 bases.
