Fridley freshman pitcher Evan Shaw broke the school record for season victories. He moved to 10-0 as the No. 3-seeded Tigers’ blanked No. 6 seed St. Paul Como Park 4-0 in the first round of the Class 3A, Section 4 playoffs.

Shaw passed uncle Dennis Hoppe, who won nine games in 1986 and later pitched for several Twins’ minor league affiliates.

The Cougars loaded the bases in the first and seventh innings but Shaw, who hurled two consecutive no-hitters earlier this season, worked out of both jams.
