April 6: A Class 4A top-10 matchup between the Skippers and Crimson highlights the season's first week.

Minnesota's relatively mild winter has left area baseball diamonds unscathed and high school players eager to begin the season.

But both will experience a new era of baseball this spring. Debuting this year is an additional competitive class, in which 64 of the state's largest schools (based on enrollment) will compete.

And it is in the newly formed Class 4A that we find our Top Game of the Week, as no other matchup has the draw of Minnetonka at Maple Grove.

The Skippers, who are ranked No. 3 in Class 4A by Let’s Play Baseball, have a deep bullpen and a highly scouted senior class.

The No. 7-4A Crimson also begin the year with a top-10 ranking, but could move up in the poll with a early season win over Minnetonka.
