Eastview senior catcher Cole McDevitt is in his final season as a member of the Lightning baseball team. Next season McDevitt will join forces with his older brother, Ty, by attending the University of Minnesota.

McDevitt, a three-sport athlete, is looking forward to this summer when, he said, he can “specifically work on baseball stuff.” He also played football and hockey for the Lightning.

“Past summers there was a lot of hockey and football things going on during the day, then baseball games at night,” McDevitt said. “This summer I will work out and try and get stronger for the college season.”

Q What is the best movie you have seen in the last year?

A “Lone Survivor.’’ It’s an awesome story that has more action than any other movie I have seen.

Q Three songs you never skip on your iPod are …

A … “Honey I’m Good” by Andy Grammer; “House Party” by Sam Hunt; and “Sugar” by Maroon 5.

Q What are your three favorite apps?

A I would have to say Snapchat, YouTube and Netflix.

Q Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why?

A It would have to be Star Tribune writer Michael Russo. I’m a huge Wild fan, and you always can hear some in-depth stuff during the Wild season.

Q Three words or phrases your friends or teammates would use to describe you are …

A … happy, fun and interesting.

Q What is your favorite meal before a game?

A Eggs. Usually a ham-and-cheese omelet.

Q Was there anything you really wanted to accomplish during your final year of high school sports?

A For my last year in high school, which is about to come to an end, I really wanted to enjoy the sports I play and the people I’m with. It’s my last chance to play with my buddies that I grew up with, which was nice.

Q What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A The most memorable moment as a high school athlete was our hockey team’s trip to the Class 2A state tournament as a sophomore in 2013. It was something I always dreamed of as a kid.

Q Who is your school’s biggest rival, and why?

A I think for each sport there is always a different one. For football, it has to be Rosemount. In hockey, it’s for sure Eagan. For baseball, it has to be Burnsville or Lakeville North.

Q How do you balance school and sports during the year?

A I do my homework late at night. I try and get as much done during the school hours.

Q Name one sport that you wish you could play, and why?

A Golf! It’s a blast, and a break on the body.

Q In 10 years, you hope you’re …

A … enjoying whatever I’m doing. I enjoy life the most when I make a positive impact on others lives.

Q Who is your favorite college or pro sports team?

A Go Gophers, and Packers, Twins and Wild.

Q Do you have a secret talent — and if so, what is it?

A I believe I can sing. I don’t quite think others would agree with me, though.

Q What is the best sports advice you have ever received?

A “It’s not about what happens to you in your life. It’s how you react to those situations that justify who you really are.”
