May 5: A victory could help the Flyers narrow the lead of the Crusaders in the Granite Ridge Conference.

As the first full week of May begins, conference races throughout the state begin to take shape. And the schedule brings a slew of important head-to-head battles between teams that have staked their claim to early conference leads.

This coming week has at least 12 games featuring teams in the top three positions of their respective conferences, which made narrowing the field down to a Top 10 Games of the Week a difficult proposition.

Honestly, any of these games could have qualified for pole position, but we’re going to step just outside the Twin Cities metro area to recognize a great race in the Granite Ridge Conference, as both Little Falls and Albany are trying to chase down defending Class 2A champion St. Cloud Cathedral, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A in the latest Let’s Play Baseball poll.

When the Flyers visit Cathedral this Tuesday night, it will be a chance to close the gap.
