Studsrud's two-hit, two-run, two-RBI performance not enough for BSM.

St. Louis Park answered a five-run sixth inning by Benilde-St. Margaret’s with four runs of its own and snapped the Red Knights’ 12-game winning streak with an 8-7 win.

Marshall Hoemke's two-run double capped a five-run sixth inning for the Red Knights.

St. Louis Park answered a five-run sixth inning by Benilde-St. Margaret’s with four runs of its own and snapped the Red Knights’ 12-game winning streak with an 8-7 win.

BSM had trailed since the bottom of the third inning when Jason Keller launched a two-run home run to give the Orioles a 3-1 lead.

The teams would trade runs in the fourth inning before the sixth inning, in which the teams combined for nine runs.

The Red Knights' rally began with a leadoff single by Sam Lynch, followed by Nathan Hanks base hit to bring on a pitching change for the hosts, with Joey Jaramillo coming in from shortstop to take over on the mound.

Keaton Studsrud hammered Jaramillo's first offering down the right field line for a run-scoring double. Mikey McGill then followed with a RBI ground out and Michael Kaminski reached on a fielder's choice when SLP was unable to get Studsrud out on a play at the plate.

Chris Racchini was then hit by a pitch and he and pinch runner Riley Crane scored when Marshall Hoemke doubled to right-center field to cap the five-run rally and give the visitors a 7-4 lead.

John Vecere, who had come on to pitch for BSM in the fourth inning, struck out Jaramillo to open the bottom of the sixth but the next seven batters would reach base safely off of Vecere and Tyler Wyvell, tying the game on a bases-loaded walk to Pat Bordwick and going ahead on Andrew Henstein's single to right field.

The Red Knights scored first in the game when Lynch led off the game with a walk, stole second base, went to third on a fly out by Hanks and scored on a Studsrud ground out.

The Orioles stranded two runners in scoring position in the first inning and left two more runners on base in the second after tying the game on Jaramillo's RBI single.

SLP also left two more runners on base in the third, after scoring twice, and ended Jimmy Cron's pitching outing after 71 pitches in three innings.

Trailing 3-1, BSM cut the lead to one run when Studsrud single with one out, advanced to second on a balk, one out later, and scored on Michael Kaminski's base hit.

Studsrud led the Red Knight offense with two hits, including a double, two runs scored and two more driven in. Hanks also had two hits and scored a run.

Cron allowed eight hits and three runs in his three innings of work, walking two and striking out three. Vecere followed with two and one-third innings of work, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two.

Tyler Wyvell suffered the loss as he gave up two hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning while striking out one.

BSM is slated to return to action, Wednesday, when the third-ranked Red Knights, 8-1 in the North Suburban Conference, take on second-place Totino-Grace, 6-1 in conference play, Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. in Fridley.
