Nathan Hanks' two-out single in the seventh inning snapped a tie and enabled Benilde-St. Margaret's to extend its winning streak to 12 games with a 4-3 win at Fridley.

Red Knight starter Connor Day and his Tiger counterpart, Pat Whalen, locked up in a pitching duel for five-plus innings, working quickly with neither pitcher issuing a walk.

However, BSM got on the scoreboard first when Sam Lynch opened the game with a single through the right side of the infield. Two outs later, he scored when Mikey McGill lined a pitch from Whalen to left field that got over the head of Noah Wiggins.

Wyatt Shaw got that run back for the hosts when he singled to lead off the third inning and stole second base before scoring on Jonathan Conyers double, which fell beyond the glove of a diving John O'Connor in left field.

BSM responded immediately when Lynch doubled with one out in the fourth inning. After moving to third on Nathan Hanks' groundout, Keaton Studsrud delivered the first pitch he saw from Whalen over the left field fence for his first home run of the season and a 3-1 Red Knight lead.

Day cruised through the fourth and fifth innings, needing just 14 pitches for the two frames, before running into trouble in the sixth where he gave up a leadoff single to Matt Duehn and, one out later, gave up another single to Bryan Sanchez, who took second when the throw from the outfield went all the way to the plate.

Tyler Wyvell came on in relief and allowed both Fridley runners to score on a ground out and a wild pitch before getting Conyers on a chopper in front of the plate.

With the score tied, Chris Racchini came on as a pinch hitter to lead off the seventh and promptly singled up the middle before giving way to pinch-runner Riley Crane.

Chris Landis followed with a sacrifice bunt and Lynch's only out of the game was a ground ball to first base, allowing Crane to move to third.

Hanks then watched strike one before delivering a line drive single to center field to snap the 3-3 tie.

Wyvell the opened the seventh inning with a strikeout of Tyler Frid before walking Mitch Bernards. Two pitches later, he induced Josh Huna to hit a ground ball to second base, which turned into a game-ending double play to preserve the BSM victory.

Lynch's 3-for-4, two-run performance led the Red Knights offense, which got eight hits, including three for extra bases.

Meanwhile, Day needed just 70 pitches to get through five and one-third innings, in which he allowed five hits while striking out three. Wyvell's one and two-third inning relief appearance saw him allow one hit and one walk while fanning a batter.
