Sam Lynch tripled in one run and scored himself to ignite BSM's four-fun, fifth inning.

Mikey McGill did not allow an earned run over five innings and Sam Lynch and Keaton Studsrud each had RBI triples in a four-run, fifth inning as Benilde-St. Margaret's opened 2014 with its four consecutive win, a 5-1 victory over Fridley.

In collecting his second win of the season, McGill walked two and struck out seven while also picking up a base hit and driving in the game's first run in the opening inning.

One of McGill's two walks was a bases-loaded walk to Wyatt Shaw in the top of the fifth inning to account for the Tigers' lone run.

However, the Red Knights responded immediately in the bottom of the fifth as John O'Connor led off with a single and Chris Landis followed with a sacrifice bunt.

Lynch then tripled to snap the 1-1 tie and, one out later, scored on Studsrud's three-base hit.

Studsrud then scored on a passed ball and McGill followed with a walk. A base hit by Michael Kaminski  and an RBI single by Tyler Wyvell then plated BSM's fifth run.

Lynch, Studsrud, Kaminski and Wyvell each had a pair of hits to pace the Red Knights' 12-hit attack, which raised the team's batting average to .425 on the season.

After McGill wrapped up his 87-pitch, five-hit performance on the mound, John Vecere came on to close out the game, allowing one hit while striking out the game's final two batters.

BSM returns to action tomorrow when it hosts defending North Suburban Conference champion Totino-Grace in a 4:15 p.m. affair.
