Red Knights exit playoffs following shutout loss to Falcons.

Mikey McGill did not allow an earned run in three innings on the mound and also had one of BSM’s three hits.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s saw its 2013 season come to a close with a 5-0 loss to Robbinsdale Armstrong in a Section 6AAA elimination game at the Metrodome.

The Red Knights were limited to just three hits by Falcon pitcher Zach Munsterman, who tossed a complete-game shutout, walking two and striking out four in the process.

BSM’s best chance to score came in the first inning when Dan Labosky was hit by a pitch to start the inning and moved to second on Sam Lynch’s sacrifice fly. A wild pitch would put Labosky on third base before Munsterman pitched out of the jam.

Red Knight pitcher Mikey McGill had to work out of jams in the first and second innings as Armstrong put runners on second and third in each inning before McGill escaped without allowing a run.

The Falcons struck for their first run in the third inning, using a one-out walk before back-to-back errors and a bunt single plated an unearned run and loaded the bases before McGill got out of the inning with a pair of fly outs.

Labosky, who also singled, walked and stole a base, would come on to pitch the next three innings for the Red Knights, allowing two runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.

The loss concludes BSM’s season at 14-8, the program’s 10th consecutive season with at least 14 wins and 11th consecutive season with a winning record.
