Game Recap

The Proctor Rails took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning on Ian Scherber's solo home run. That was enough for starting pitcher Jake Lewis, who pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out five while not walking a batter.

Minneapolis Washburn's Josh Pierce pitched well but took the loss, giving up five hits and one run while striking out five and walking one.

The Rails move on to face St. Cloud Cathedral Friday at 2:30 on Dick Putz Field.

Three Stars

1. Jake Lewis, Proctor
In this pitcher's duel, Lewis came out on top.  He pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out five Washburn batters.

2. Ian Scherber, Proctor
Scherber had only one of Proctor's five hits, but it was the difference-maker in this game. He drove in and scored the only run of the game on a solo home run in the sixth inning.

3. Josh Pierce, Minneapolis Washburn
Despite taking the loss, Pierce pitched a great game.  He went the distance, giving up only five hits and one run, while walking only one batter and striking out five.
