Red Knights claim third conference title in five seasons.

Jimmy Heck pitched his fifth complete game of the season and Benilde-St. Margaret's wrapped up the outright North Suburban Conference title with a 6-4 win at Totino-Grace.

The Red Knights needed to scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 4-4 tie and did so with the top of their order leading the way.

Dan Labosky grounded a 3-2 pitch through the right side of the Eagles' infield to end the day for starting pitcher Matt Stroh. Mario Lucarelli came on in relief and was immediately greeted with a sacrifice bunt by Grant Besse, who had already singled twice and walked in the game.

Lucarelli induced Joe Melles into grounding out but then threw a wild pitch, allowing Labosky to advance to third. Heck's ground ball to short couldn't be fielded cleanly by Sam Meyer and Labosky raced home with the tie-breaking run.

Scott Quinby pinch ran for Heck and he moved to second when Gabe MacDonald walked. Bobby Papetti then followed with a pinch-hit single to left field to plate Quinby with the game's final run.

BSM jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning when three consecutive bunts loaded the bases. Robby Sutherland bunted for a hit and Keaton Studsrud sacrificed him to second base, reaching first himself when Derek Lodermeier's throw pulled Robert McDaniel off of first base.

Labosky then beat out a bunt for a hit before Besse and Melles both coaxed bases-loaded walks for the inning's first two runs.

Heck provided a run himself when he grounded out to first base, scoring Labosky, and MacDonald fouled out to right field with Besse racing home for the fourth run of the inning.

Totino-Grace got two runs back in the bottom of the third, using three hits and a wild pitch to cut the lead in half.

The Eagles then used back-to-back Red Knight errors to tie the game in the fifth inning to set up the seventh-inning finish.

Heck, in collecting his team-leading fifth win of the season, allowed six hits and two earned runs while walking three and striking out sixth.

Besse, who singled in his first two at bats, reached base three times before his seventh-inning sacrifice set up the winning run. He drove in one run and scored another. Labosky also had two hits while scoring a pair of runs.

The 11th-ranked Red Knights claimed the NSC title with a 12-2 record and they head into their final regular-season game of 2012 with a 16-3 overall mark. BSM concludes its regular season, Monday, when it hosts Holy Angels in a 4:15 p.m. game at BSM Field.
