Spencer Brooks

QUICK Q&A: SPENCER BROOKS, HENRY SIBLEY SENIOR

Henry Sibley hasn't been to the state baseball tournament since 2005. Brooks would like to see that change in his final season. Here is a closer look at the second baseman, who has also pitched and played the outfield.

The best movie I've seen in the last year? Without a doubt "Project X."

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Springsteen" by Eric Church; "Drunk On You" by Luke Bryan; "Fly Over States" by Jason Aldean.

Three words or phrases your friends or teammates might use to describe you? Committed; competitive; laid back.

How do you balance school and sports? I exercise good time management and make sure school work comes first.

How did you get started playing baseball? I started baseball in Mendota Heights' great youth system.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? My first varsity game was played at the Metrodome where I got a single on the first pitch of my first at-bat.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... extremely nervous playing with the guys I always looked up to while growing up.

What are your goals for the baseball season? My main goal is to help my team get to the state tournament and just improve my overall play.

Who is your school's biggest rival, and why? Without a doubt St. Thomas Academy, being just a mile away and a private school.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? I've always loved the Minnesota Twins because every game they go out there and play it the right way.
