And the winner is...MN Baseball Hub Top Performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from April 17-22.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Baseball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email scores@nbcuni.com


Top performer winner

Will Choi, Nova Classical Academy. When a team approaches 30 runs in a game, there are bound to be some big performances. Choi led Nova Classical Academy in its 29-1 win April 18 at Academy for Sciences and Agriculture, going 4-for-4 with five runs scored, two home runs and seven RBIs. The freshman also earned the win on the mound, pitching two scoreless innings with six strikeouts and a walk.

Top performer candidates

Sawyer Hoffman, Farmington. The Winona State commit pitched a gem in a 2-0 win against Shakopee on April 17. Hoffman threw a two-hit complete game with one walk and nine strikeouts. The senior also went 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk, RBI and stolen base.

Hunter Hoen, Belle Plaine. Hoen tossed a one-hitter with no walks and 14 strikeouts in a complete game shutout in the Tigers' 3-0 win April 18 at Sibley East. Belle Plaine won both ends of a doubleheader with Sibley East, while Hoen notched a hit and walk in each game with an RBI in one.

Landon Johnson, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. Johnson had quite the day on April 18. In a 9-1 win against Crookston, he went 3-for-3 with a run scored, two doubles and three RBIs. He was also credited with the save on the mound after pitching 3 2/3 innings with two hits, one walk, eight strikeouts and one run allowed. That same day the junior went 1-for-2 with a double, walk and two RBIs in a 10-3 win against West Marshall, Iowa.

Cal Schmelzle, Lakeville North. Schmelzle was tough to get a bat on in the Panthers' 4-0 win April 18 vs. Apple Valley. He held the Eagles to two hits and two walks in a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts from just 88 pitches. The junior also helped his cause at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double, walk and two RBIs.
