And the winner is...MN Baseball Hub Top Performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from May 2-7.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Baseball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Ian Koosman, Willmar. The senior pitcher earned two wins last week — against Marshall and Rocori. Koosman pitched five innings in the Cardinals' 9-2 win at Marshall on May 2, allowing one run on two hits and walking one batter while striking out 12 batters. Against Rocori on May 5, Koosman recorded 11 strikeouts in six innings pitched, giving up one unearned run on two hits.

Top performer candidates

Chase Gasner, Rochester Mayo. The sophomore played a key role in the Spartans’ May 5 victory at Albert Lea as they eked out a 2-1 win. Gasner pitched six scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks as he struck out eight batters. He also provided one of the Spartans' two RBIs, hitting a single to drive in the run.

Louis Magers, Mankato West. The Scarlets defeated Red Wing 6-0 on May 5 thanks to their senior pitcher’s performance on the mound and at the plate. Magers pitched six innings in the shutout victory, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out 13 batters. At the plate he went 3-for-4, hitting a double and a home run, scoring three runs, and tallying four RBIs.

Randy Pereyra, Minneapolis Roosevelt. The senior led the Teddies on the bases in their 14-4 May 7 victory against St. Paul Johnson. Pereyra went a perfect 3-for-3, including hitting one home run, and tallied four RBIs. He got on base a fourth time after getting hit by a pitch. Pereyra stole three bases, putting himself in position to record his four runs scored.

Zach Romans, St. Michael-Albertville. The senior pitcher extended his night into extra innings on May 3 and delivered solid pitching as the Knights defeated Wayzata 2-1 in nine innings. Romans pitched 8 2/3 innings, giving up two walks and one unearned run on five hits. Romans tallied eight strikeouts.
