And the winner is...MN Baseball Hub Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Baseball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Josh Ortiz, Concordia Academy. Ortiz recorded his first win on the mound this season, and an impressive win it was. The sophomore tossed a complete-game no-hitter for Concordia Academy (9-8, 8-4) on May 26. He gave up two walks and struck out 14 batters in the Beacons’ 7-0 victory over Cristo Rey Jesuit.

Top performer candidates

Grant Klebig, Rochester John Marshall. The senior tallied his first RBIs of the season last week, helping lead the Rockets to back-to-back victories. Klebig drove in eight total runs on four hits — two in a 10-3 victory at Faribault on May 24 and another two in a 7-1 win at Austin two days later. He had one triple and three singles, and recorded three stolen bases for Rochester John Marshall (7-14, 7-9). 

Josh Ortiz, Concordia Academy. Ortiz recorded his first win on the mound this season, and an impressive win it was. The sophomore tossed a complete-game no-hitter for Concordia Academy (9-8, 8-4) on May 26. He gave up two walks and struck out 14 batters in the Beacons’ 7-0 victory over Cristo Rey Jesuit.

Zane Rutledge, Eden Prairie. The senior accounted for half of the Eagles’ runs in a 10-5 victory over Hopkins on May 25. Rutledge went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run. He recorded a season-high five RBIs, marking the first time this season he’s recorded multiple RBIs in a game for Eden Prairie (6-15, 4-8).

Sam Schneider, Minneapolis Edison. Schneider took to the mound and led the Tommies to their third victory of the season following an 8-2 win against Columbia Heights on May 26. The junior allowed two unearned runs on two hits in seven innings. He struck out a season-high 13 batters on 105 pitches for Minneapolis Edison (3-15, 2-9).

Max Sickler, Cambridge-Isanti. The junior got back in the RBI column on May 25 with a 4-for-5 effort at the plate. He hit a double and a home run, driving in three runs to give the Bluejackets (5-15, 4-10) the boost they needed to defeat Big Lake 8-6.
