And the winner is...MN Baseball Hub Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Baseball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

 

Logan Gravink, Andover. Gravink led the Huskies’ come-from-behind win on May 19 as they eliminated a three-run deficit to earn their 13th victory of the season. The junior hit two singles and a triple, racked up five RBIs and recorded a stolen base as the Huskies (15-3, 9-3) defeated St. Francis 7-4.

Top performer candidates

The junior hit two singles and a triple, racked up five RBIs and recorded a stolen base as the Huskies (15-3, 9-3) defeated St. Francis 7-4.

Johnny Lyman, Minneapolis Washburn. The senior recorded his fifth multi-RBI game of the season on May 18, leading the Millers’ 16-0 rout of Minneapolis Patrick Henry/FAIR. Lyman went 4-for-4 with two home runs and tallied seven RBIs to bring his season total to a team-high 19 RBIs through nine games.

Cole Newell, Maple Grove. The junior found himself on the winning end of a pitchers’ duel on May 21, allowing the same three hits and one walk as his own team's offense produced. Newell earned the eight-inning shutout for Maple Grove (13-4, 9-3), striking out 13 batters and throwing 106 pitches.   

Will Rogers, Mounds View. The senior was a key part of two of the Mustangs' wins last week. On May 19, the Mustangs defeated Stillwater 9-1, led by Rogers’ two home runs and six RBIs. In the Mustangs’ 2-0 victory against Woodbury on May 21, Rogers took to the mound and delivered a seven-inning, 12 strikeout performance, allowing just two hits. He also knocked in one of the Mustangs’ (13-7, 11-7) two runs with his third home run of the week.

Weston Russell, St. Anthony Village. The sophomore pitcher had a standout game on May 20, leading the Huskies (10-8, 5-6) to a 1-0 victory against St. Paul Central in nine near-perfect innings. Russell held St. Paul Central hitless, giving up just one walk and recording a season-high 18 strikeouts.
