And the winner is...MN Baseball Hub Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Baseball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Troy Lynch, Holy Angels. The Stars’ junior pitched a shutout on May 5, leading the Stars to a 4-0 victory at St. Anthony Village. Lynch tossed 105 pitches over seven innings, striking out 11 batters while allowing two hits and two walks. He recorded two RBIs and hit his second home run of the season for Holy Angels (9-1, 7-0).

Top performer candidates

Chayton Fischer, Maple Grove. The junior catcher was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate during the Crimson’s 10-5 victory against Blaine on May 4. Fischer hit a double and a home run, drew a walk and recorded five RBIs in the win for Maple Grove (7-4, 5-3).

Ryan Janzen, St. Cloud Cathedral. The senior sparked the Crusaders’ (5-4, 4-3) offense in their 14-4 win on May 8 against Minnehaha Academy. Janzen recorded five hits, including two triples and tallied five RBIs. 

Spencer Lewin, Holy Family Catholic. The senior played the late-innings hero for the Fire, leading a 10-inning 6-5 victory against Providence Academy on May 5. Lewin pitched three hitless innings late in the game, recording four strikeouts for Holy Family Catholic (8-5, 5-4). Lewin set himself up to earn the win on the mound and came through in the bottom of the 10th inning with a walkoff double. Lewin had three hits, one walk and stole two bases.

Cody Wichmann, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton. The sophomore took the Knights’ (7-3, 5-2) May 4 win into his own hands with a solid game both on the mound and at the plate. Wichmann threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and four walks while recording 13 strikeouts. At the plate, Wichmann hit a single and a double, recording both RBIs in the Knights’ 2-0 victory against Lakeview.
