BOLD 8, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 7

A stunning rally in extra innings gave top seed BOLD the semifinal victory at the Mini Met in Jordan and a spot in the Class 1A state tournament championship game.

No. 5 seed Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (21-3) scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to take a7-5 lead. But BOLD countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

The first run scored when Braeden Tersteeg was hit by a pitch with bases loaded. Luke Ryan’s bases-loaded single scored the second run. Then Tim Peppel scored the game-winning from third base on a wild pitch.

BOLD (19-5) seeks its first state title since 2013.

New York Mill 5, Sacred Heart 1

A three-run double from starting pitcher Derin Gaudette highlighted a four-run Eagles’ outburst in the top of the sixth inning.

Sacred Heart (14-9), making its second consecutive state tournament appearance, trailed 1-0 after the first inning, then drew even in the bottom of the fifth. Gaudette put No. 2 seed New York Mills (21-4) ahead to stay, driving a 0-2 pitch to the wall in left-centerfield and scoring Bren Salo, Caden Roberts and Dylan Fischer.

The Eagles last reached the championship game in 2014. The program returns in search of its first title.
