Minneapolis Washburn vs. Minneapolis Southwest

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 25

Minneapolis Southwest enters the week undefeated in Minneapolis City Conference play with three league games remaining, including a Tuesday tilt with Minneapolis Washburn, which looks to be the only real threat remaining on the Lakers’ regular-season schedule.

The Lakers (15-1, 9-0) have won 13 consecutive games, with their only defeat of the season coming on May 1 in a 6-1 blemish to No. 10-4A Maple Grove. Since that loss, Southwest’s offense has erupted, producing 12.77 runs per game. It's stretch of domination includes a 10-7 victory over Washburn on May 4, a 9-1 triumph over a quality Minneapolis South team on May 20 and an 18-0 blowout of Minneapolis North two days later.

Five Southwest players had two or more RBIs in the victory over North, including Finn Joshi who recorded two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Washburn’s five-game winning streak was snapped this past Saturday when it lost 5-4 to Robbinsdale Armstrong. The Millers (11-4, 7-2) got 12 hits in that defeat, with Ean Laird getting a team-best three knocks. Laird also had two hits and an RBI in his team’s May 4 loss to Southwest.
