Thief River Falls/Goodridge

vs. Warroad

(Doubleheader)

4 p.m., Tuesday, May 18

Class 2A, Section 8 foes Warroad and Thief River Falls/Goodridge meet Tuesday for a doubleheader that can propel either of these teams, which haven’t combined for much postseason success in recent years, into the postseason with a wave of momentum.

Warroad, which has won eight of its last nine games, boasts a deep lineup. The Warriors (13-2) feature five regulars hitting .320 or better and four players with 11 or more RBIs, based on stats submitted to the MN Baseball Hub. Blake Norris has been especially productive for Warroad, hitting .387 with two home runs, 18 runs scored, 16 RBIs and five stolen bases.

Thief River Falls/Goodridge, meanwhile, is digging its way out of a hole. The Prowlers (7-5) went 3-4 to start the season but they’ve won four of five games since.

The Prowlers split a pair of games with Roseau last week, winning 8-7 on Tuesday and losing 3-1 on Friday. Cooper Lawrence had two RBIs in the win and teammate Morgan Rude contributed a game-high three hits. Lawrence went on to score the team's only run in Friday's defeat.
