New Prague vs.

Holy Family Catholic

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 14

New Prague is riding high. The Trojans are in the driver’s seat to win their second consecutive Wright County Conference championship, and they’re fresh off a 7-0 Friday win over Waconia.

In an 8-5 win over Hutchinson on May 7, New Prague’s Cade Pavek smacked a three-run home run, while pitcher Jake Deutcsh earned the win from the mound.

The Trojans (10-3, 6-1) have one league loss this season, which came in a 10-8 defeat to No. 3-2A Holy Family Catholic on April 26.

The Fire (8-3, 3-3) have cooled off a bit recently though, losing two of their last six games. Senior Jacob Konz helped bring Holy Family Catholic to a simmer last Friday. The shortstop went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored in a 12-2 win over Blake.

If Holy Family Catholic is to continue gaining momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season and grab a regular-season sweep of New Prague, it’ll also rely on catcher Eric Rinzel, who is regarded as one of the state’s top recruits. Committed to Missouri, the senior and Konz would like to help deliver the program's section championship since 2012.
