Prior Lake vs. Rosemount

7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 24

Amid the conference title chases across the state, none may hold more intrigue than the one in the South Suburban Conference. While many eyes will be on Eagan's matchup with Lakeville North on Thursday, they shouldn't lose sight of Prior Lake's tussle with Rosemount. The No. 4 Lakers could claim a share of league title with a victory over the No. 9 Irish and an Eagan loss.

Prior Lake, however, may have another prize in mind. With a win, the Lakers can claim the top seed in Section 6 and home-field advantage through the semifinals.

Prior Lake’s only loss came in a 10-9 decision against Eagan on May 7, and the Lakers (10-1, 6-1) responded by winning four in a row, including 7-6 victories over Lakeville North (May 10) and Eastview (May 17).

Benjamin Jung is a source of scoring and playmaking for Prior Lake this season, and has 14 goals and 15 assists.

Rosemount stumbled in a 9-5 loss to Lakeville North on May 15 but bounced back with a 16-8 win over Burnsville two days later, making the Irish winners of four of their last five contests.

Thomas Purfeerst looks to keep the offense humming and help the Irish (8-2, 5-2) erase the memory of a 10-9 double-overtime loss to the Lakers last season.
