Stillwater vs.

Park of Cottage Grove

7 p.m., Wednesday, May 23

Stillwater is on the verge of claiming its first outright Suburban East Conference title since 2010, but to do so, the Ponies must get past a surging Park of Cottage Grove program that's eager to repeat as league champion.

Stillwater (9-2, 7-0) has averaged 13 goals per game this season behind Tommy McGuire. The senior attackman had five goals and two assists in the No. 10 Ponies' 13-2 dispatch of conference and section 4 rival White Bear Lake, a perennial east metro power, on May 7. The victory helped cement the Ponies' place atop the league standings.

Park dropped its first three games of the season — including a 9-8 loss to league foe East Ridge on April 24 — but were missing the services of several players who have since returned to help the Wolfpack (7-3, 6-1) win seven in a row and climb into a tie with the Raptors for second place in conference rankings. The return of Grant Glazier (25-17-42) has been vital to the team's resurgent offense, which looks to put together a strong performance after being stymied a year ago in a 13-6 loss to Stillwater.
