Bloomington Jefferson

vs. Chanhassen

4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 9 (Doubleheader)

Bloomington Jefferson has experienced a roller coaster ride of a season. They defeated last year's Metro West Conference champion Chaska 4-2 on May 2 and recorded victories over two teams with a combined record of 13-5 this season — Benilde-St. Margaret's (11-10 on April 24) and Edina (10-7 on April 26) — before getting swept 11-8 and 21-3 against what had been a struggling St. Louis Park team last weekend.

This week the Jaguars (5-3, 4-2) hope to rebound in a doubleheader against the only team they are looking up at in the Metro West standings — Chanhassen. To gain ground on the Storm, Bloomington Jefferson may need Bennett McCollow to replicate his performances at the plate in the doubleheader against the Red Knights. The senior catcher went 4-for-8 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored.

The Storm (6-3, 5-1) are difficult to stop. They have a red-hot wrecking ball offense that has scored at least 10 runs in each of its past four games, helping the team win five straight.

Drew Bump could take the mound, too. He's coming off a one-hit, 12-strikeout performance in a 10-0, five-inning win against Robbinsdale Cooper on May 2.
