Wayzata vs. Minnetonka

6:30 p.m., Friday, April 27

Minnetonka is off to a strong start and could build a big advantage over the other perennial powers of the Lake Conference if it can take care of business this week.

The Skippers (4-1, 1-0) topped defending Class 4A champion Eden Prairie 5-2 on April 12 to begin their conference season and next up is last year's top seed in the state tournament — Wayzata.

Wayzata got blasted by that same Eden Prairie team 11-0 in their season opener last Saturday, but the Trojans (0-1, 0-1) have an opportunity to even the league standings when they face Minnetonka.

The Trojans' bats need to wake up from the extended winter if they want to win Friday. The lineup, which features returning starters Charles Engdahl and Sam Westermeyer, recorded just three hits in their opening contest.
