Last season, Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove shocked top-seeded Jackson County Central with a 5-3 victory in the fourth round of Class 2A, Section 5 playoffs that ended the Huskies' year. The Falcons have since moved to Class 1A, so this is the Huskies' only chance to avenge the loss this season.

Jackson County Central has overpowered its opponents with stellar pitching this season. The No. 5-2A Huskies (14-3, 9-1) have a team ERA of 1.79, led by Ryan Christopher, who has allowed one run in 33 innings pitched.

The No. 16-1A Falcons (16-3, 9-1) have been just as strong from the mound, featuring a team ERA of 1.21 to go along with offensive stalwart Cole Pankonin. Pankonin recorded his 100th career hit in a 9-0 victory at Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on May 19.
