Chaska at Benilde-St. Margaret's
7 p.m., Monday, May 22

Chaska has torn through the Metro West Conference and clinched the league crown already. The Hawks (15-3, 13-0), who have won 11 straight games overall, are just one win away from finishing the league slate with a 14-0 record.

Pitching has fueled the success. According to Chaska Herald Sports Editor Eric Kraushar, the No. 12-4A Hawks have three pitchers with ERAs under 1.00 during the win streak: Zach Hartford (0.99), Ryan Rodriguez (0.86) and Jacob Goraczkowski (0.92).

Standing in the way of Chaska's unblemished Metro West record is No. 6-3A Benilde-St. Margaret's. The Red Knights (12-6, 10-3) were step-for-step with Chaska in the league title chase before three straight conference losses in mid-May sunk Benilde-St. Margaret's bid.

One of those was a 7-1 loss to the Hawks, but Derek Drees, with his .375 batting average and 48 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched, will hit the field Monday looking for revenge.
