Wabasso at Springfield (doubleheader)
4:30 and 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 16

This season hasn't been nearly as smooth for the Class 1A state champs from a season ago. Springfield (13-3, 8-3) lost its best player, current Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Freshman of the Year Sam Beier, to graduation. It's also been riddled with injuries to several position players and two of its top pitchers. Still, with different lineups featured every game, the Tigers have remained on top of the Tomahawk Conference standings.

Branden Flock is hitting .450 at the leadoff spot and Tanner Vogel has been a Swiss Army knife solution on the defensive side, playing wherever injuries leave a hole.

Meanwhile, Wabasso (10-4, 6-4) is reeling after consecutive losses to Tomahawk foes Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's (10-2) on May 9 and New Ulm Cathedral (4-0) on May 11. Still, it can get back in the race for the league title with a sweep in the doubleheader.

The Rabbits have an offense that can give the Tigers some issues, too. Wabaso has a combined on-base percentage of .403, including Nick Altermatt's .518 mark.
