Wayzata at Champlin Park
7 p.m., Friday, May 5

In a rematch of the Class 4A final, Wayzata and Champlin Park will meet for their first regular season contest in over two years. Neither team looks quite the same from last year's state championship game, as the teams have graduated a combined 27 players, including both starting pitchers.

Champlin Park (4-3, 2-2) has faltered this season. Last week, the Rebels suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since May 2015. The first blemish was a 1-0 decision to Centennial on April 21, the second was a six-error 6-3 loss against Anoka on April 29.

In an effort to get back on a winning track, Cole Albers will likely pitch for Champlin Park against the Trojans. In his last outing, Albers allowed just three hits and struck out eight in a complete game.

Wayzata (5-1, 3-1) had a 13-game winning streak, stretching back to last season, snapped against Minnetonka last week. Joe Kurth was able to kick the Trojans back on their winning ways before last week ended, hitting a walk-off single in a 6-5 win over Rochester Mayo. Kurth and the Trojans will be looking to start another winning streak by picking up victories against first Osseo and then the Rebels.
