St. Thomas Academy at Tartan
4:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 3

The top two teams in the Metro East go head-to-head to try and stay in front of last year's Class 3A state finalists, Henry Sibley and Mahtomedi, in the league standings.

Tartan (7-2, 7-0) has dominated on the mound this season, with a team ERA of 1.60 through nine games. Cody Spahr and Andrew Maslowski have been especially dominant. The pair threw back-to-back, two-hit shutouts on Apr. 29, Spahr against Henry Sibley and Maslowski against South St. Paul.

St. Thomas Academy (5-3, 5-1) has a high-powered offense that could overcome the Titans' pitching prowess. Five players from the everyday lineup have on-base percentages over .400, and Nick Globisch boasts a team-high .481 batting average.

The Titans and Cadets will play a doubleheader, as they finish an earlier rain-shortened contest, followed by a full game.
