New York Mills at Parkers Prairie
3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13

Parkers Prairie was one out away from taking home the Class 1A state title in its first trip to the state tournament in school history, but ultimately came up short against Springfield, losing 4-2 in 11 innings.

The Panthers (1-1, 1-0) return eight starters for the 2017 season, including their No. 3-hitter in the lineup, Casey Peterson, and will be hungry to wrap up the state title this season.

New York Mills (1-0, 1-0) was the only team, besides Springfield, to beat Parkers Prairie after April 15 last season. The Eagles will look to take down their Park Region Conference rivals behind the return of nine letter-winners from a season ago, seven of them seniors. Ethan Hendrickx and Charlie Fox are the sole returning junior letter-winners.
