Wayzata at Eden Prairie
4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13

Reigning class 4A state-champion Wayzata will be tested early this season, first by Hopkins on Tuesday, and then by an Eden Prairie team that wants another shot at the Trojans after falling to the eventual champions 10-5 in the first round of the state tournament.

This year will see a new iteration of Wayzata, as Danny Deis (.417 BA) and Will Oberg (.297 BA) are the only returning cast members from the every-day lineup that scored 163 runs in 26 games last season.

The Eagles are in a similar position returning only three starters from last season: Ryan Wrobleski, Zack Elliott and Connor Kehl. None of the three had more than 72 plate appearances last spring, but they will provide defensive stability at the catcher and middle infield positions.

On the mound for Eden Prairie will be Jack Zigan, who was the closer last season, pitching 11.1 innings and allowing three earned runs.
