Champlin Park scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and made it standup, holding off Northwest Suburban Conference rival Blaine for a 6-2 victory in the final Class 4A quarterfinal game on Thursday.

The Rebels (23-3), playing their third consecutive game at CHS Field after winning the Section 5 there, looked comfortable from the outset. The first four Rebels reached on base hits and all four came around to score.

Blaine (14-12) pecked away at Rebels’ lead, eventually cutting it in half, 4-2, in the top of the fifth inning. But the Rebels tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain their four-run lead.

Champlin Park got a complete game from pitcher Cole Albers, who gave up two runs and nine hits in seven innings. Centerfielder Riley Johnson went 3-for-4 and scored twice for Champlin Park.
