One run and seven innings of shutout baseball gave Adrian a 1-0 win over No. 3 Ely in the Class 1A state quarterfinals at Chaska Athletic Park on Thursday.

The only run of the game came when Adrian senior shortstop Michael Preuss scored on a single by junior catcher Zach Loosbrock. Preuss went 1-for-2 with a walk to help lead the Dragons (20-7) to their sixth consecutive win.

Adrian senior pitcher Logan Rogers controlled the Timberwolves (20-6) throughout the game. In seven innings of work, Rogers gave up three hits and struck out eight.

Outside of the early hiccup, Ely pitcher Pat Huisman kept the Timberwolves in the game. Huisman gave up three hits and struck out four. The senior also tried helping with his bat, going 1-for-3 with a double in the loss.

Adrian was the only unseeded team to advance to Friday's semifinals. The Dragons take on Springfield at 2:30 p.m. at Chaska Athletic Park. Ely heads into the consolation bracket.
