Recap

A three-run sixth inning was all it took for Parkers Prairie to defeat Badger/Greenbush-Middle River 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A state tournament at Chaska Athletic Park on Thursday.

After being shutout by Gators senior starter Trevor Robinson for five innings, the No. 1-seeded Panthers (21-2) took the lead thanks to three runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth. Parkers Prairie senior first baseman Jake Thoennes went 1-for-3 at the plate and knocked in the go-ahead run with a single.

Unseeded Badger/Greenbush-Middle River (16-11) looked ready to pull off the upset with Robinson's strong start. Senior left fielder Chris Koehmstedt got the Gators on the board in the second inning with an RBI triple, his only hit of the game.

Badger/Greenbush-Middle River senior center fielder Jordan Brandon knocked in the Gators' only other run.

Parkers Prairie advances to Friday's semifinals and will play at noon on Friday at Chaska Athletic Park. The Gators move into the consolation bracket at the Mini Met in Jordan.
