Northfield at Red Wing
5 p.m., Tuesday, May 17

Northfield is a game behind No. 1-3A Mankato West and Owatonna in the Big 9 Conference standings despite playing two less games than the league leaders.

A win over Red Wing on Tuesday could put the Raiders in a position to repeat as league champions and give them leverage in Class 3A, Section 1 playoff decision making.

Currently on its longest winning streak (5) of the season, Northfield (11-4, 8-3) has posted two shutouts and held the competition to three runs or fewer during the past five games.

The No. 9-3A Wingers (11-6, 8-6) are accustomed to playing top competition, notching victories over No. 3-4A Mahtomedi and No. 5-3A Rocori.

Sophomore Ted Tauer has proven himself as the Red Wing's ace this season, winning his two starts and posting a 0.94 ERA in 27 and ⅔ innings pitched.

Junior Hunter Koep struck out nine and allowed two hits in six innings for the No. 6-3A Raiders in last year’s 8-4 win over the Wingers.
